mentor and above all an epitome of motherhood, Dr Mrs Ritu Dewan can be best depicted as a compassionate humanitarian who believes in
academic leadership and enriching the lives of others. over 35 years in the field of education including 23 years of administration that she has spent, reads the saga of touching lives meaningfully and inspiring minds. In an exclusive conversation with her she shared how her inner calling to dedicate herself to education and enrich lives of others at a very young age changed her course of life. Her path to her current position as Director & Principal
of Dayawati Modi Academy, Group of schools, has been marked by continuous, consistent dedicated, and honest devotion over the course of many years.

How did you start your journey as a educator?
Teaching has always been one of my most dearly held passions since it has provided me with invaluable insight into inexhaustible energies, potential, and talent, all of which I have endeavoured to direct for the betterment of humanity. To be a leader, you need to be able to inspire people with your principles and vision. Like a gardener who tends to his plants until they bloom, I ensure to create the right environment to help my students flourish
academically and emotionally by providing them with the conditions they need to discover and develop their unique strengths, nourish and nurture them so that they shine forth in all their brilliance. I bequeath my students with ROOTS of sound values and WINGS to span the limitless skies. I’m a gardener when I nurture the roots and am also the wind beneath their wings when they take a flight.

How would you describe your journey as an educator?
As an educator, I have strived to create a learning environment that encourages collaboration and the sharing of best practices among both educators and students. I have engaged in various professional development activities and mentored several educators in an effort to inspire them to reach their full potential. I have also been involved in various education-focused initiatives, conducting workshops for teachers on how to better engage with their students. Additionally, I have used my expertise to advocate for improved curricula, better assessment practices, and more equitable access to
resources for all students.

As an Influential Educator how would you encourage developing leadership capacity amongst your fellow colleagues?
In my style of administration, I try to work as a catalyst maximizing efficiency always alive towards organizational goals. I communicate all the policies and plan clearly to the team members before initiating action. Effective supervision, timely guidance, and independence to explore new ideas bring forth good collaborative teamwork. As a friend I share the feelings, aspirations and opinions of employees, as a philosopher I guide the employees as a light house & stand strong as a role model with discipline, integrity and larger good as my core values and as a mentor my problem-solving approach

Being an education influencer, what change would you like to see in the field of education and how?
The current system, in my opinion, places too much emphasis on telling children what to do as opposed to teaching them how to think and how to trust their own God-given intuition, natural abilities, and desires. Over- reliance on technology has adversely impacted children’s ability to think creatively, and we’ve turned them into a kind of trainable commodity. The education of the future must be heavily influenced by technology, but it must never lose check here its humane focus. I have a loftier vision for the organization, one that demonstrates its commitment to serving its local community. Sustainable methods and making a positive impact on the world are important to me. An educator, in my view, is someone who dedicates their life to the betterment of the community and its future. I actually work on the premise that true education #Dayawati Modi Academy doesn’t have any borders as it is universal in its ambiance and outreach. Along with tangible results I feel equally proud of the intangible outcomes in terms of integrating the dyslexic, autistic, differently abled children with the mainstream and I have been able to bridge the gap between the gifted and low achievers with unqualified success & outcomes.

DMA has always passed on its best baton to the posterity, empowering 42 batches with the light of knowledge, nourishing them with true values and right ethos. My alumnae have carved their niche in the global village excelling in diverse fields and are heading top companies globally as CEOs & Managers. I have a great bonding with my sons and daughters settled all over the world and they take guidance for personal issues and also contribute in the innovations and ideas of making their world a better place for all of us to live in.

It feels amazing when your team looks up to you as an influencer. The message I would like to give them is that I believe in their potentials and they can always rely on me to provide guidance and advice in challenging times. I want them to understand that hard work, dedication, and a positive
